So I was on the phone with an old aquaintance in LA just now, and we were talking about my brother who died at 58 of a heart attack and he said , "Tim Russert died today".

Reading Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture last night, I was struck by the recurring thought that life offers no guarantees.
Some of us have better odds than others for a happy life. Randy Pausch talks about winning the parent lottery. Tim Russert definitely won the parent lottery and he made the most out of his chances in life.
(This afternoon turned out better than the morning and it's a perfect day for Parade the Circle. The kind of day for cloud watching or bike riding. I saw a man riding an old-fashioned bike, outfitted with a joyful bell--He's making the most of today.)
